North Texas Hair Stylists Learn To Spot Domestic Violence

A woman and her hair stylist have a unique bond. We trust our hair pros with our guarded secrets and that’s why stylists in Collin County, Texas are working with the district attorney to ensure their clients know they have a safe place to go if they’re in an abusive relationship.

"It's everywhere," says Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis. "And most domestic violence is not reported at all. But research shows that most women talk to someone about what they've experienced."

At a “Cut It Out” luncheon, stylists will learn how to spot the signs of domestic violence and how to find help for their clients. Since we trust the folks that do our hair so much, the hope is anyone in a dangerous situation would feel safe confiding in their stylist. And if this kind of training can help their clients, they’re happy to do it.
